This month we hear from Dr Steve Levine, VP of Patient Access at Compass
I am a part of the Compass team helping to … bring mental health innovation to patients. I work in Patient Access, thinking about and knocking down barriers that stand between the process of generating evidence through research and achieving equitable patient access
I work in mental health care because … as a physician and psychiatrist, I believe that there is no health without mental health
The part of my job I most enjoy is … being inspired daily by smart, talented, and thoughtful colleagues who live our values of bold, compassionate, rigorous, and inclusive
When I was a child, I always wanted to … get through that time to move on to the next thing. Now, I try to focus on making the best of the present
An unusual fact about me is … I found out “accidentally” while trying to amuse my nephews that I can move my eyes independently of each other – creepy!
What I am most grateful for is … my health, my family and friends, and the privilege of getting to spend my time doing meaningful work
The best place I’ve ever visited is … I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to travel all over the world, but just recently got to add a state to my US map. After a long time of being locked down by the COVID-19 pandemic, I visited Montana with some of my favourite people and went horse riding! It was a magical trip
My proudest achievement is … raising amazing children
My dream one day is to … fly … you said dream, right?
The book everyone should read is … “You Can’t Go Home Again”, by Thomas Wolfe
The song everyone should listen to is … “Where is My Mind?”, by Pixies
