This month we hear from Hannah Flack, Senior Communications Associate at Compass …

I am a part of the Compass team helping to … tell Compass’s story

I work in mental health care because … I’ve seen how mental illness can derail people’s lives. I’ve suffered, I’ve seen friends and family members struggle and been unable to help them, and I’ve spent time talking to patients in psychiatric hospitals. I’ve seen that the treatments and services that are currently available don’t work for enough people. We need to do more. I feel privileged to work at Compass and to help reimagine mental health care

The part of my job I most enjoy is … working on a wide range of exciting projects, with such talented and committed people. I learn something new every day

What I am most grateful for is … my health, my body, and all the amazing things it lets me do. I feel very lucky to have “found” functional fitness and training a few years ago, after a sedentary adolescence and young adulthood. It’s changed my life, my relationship with myself and my body, and proved to me that I can do hard things. I’ve met the most incredible and inspiring people and had more fun than I ever thought possible

The best place I’ve ever visited is … Vietnam! Incredible scenery, friendly people, and great food. I hope to explore more of South East Asia in the future

My dream one day is to … become a yoga teacher

The book everyone should read is … “The Gift of Fear” by Gavin deBecker. It’s about how important it is to trust our instincts and our intuition, and how doing so can protect us from danger

The best advice I’ve ever been given is …

  1. To find people who give you energy, and
  2. Not to do things that don’t make you happy
