Impact
We are working to create positive impact by developing transformative therapies for those who are not helped by current treatments, by helping to build the mental health ecosystem of the future, and by acting responsibly as an organisation.
Overview
We are living through a global mental health crisis; every 40 seconds, someone dies from suicide. Depression affects 320 million people worldwide1, but for one in three, traditional treatments don’t work.2 Care for people with treatment-resistant depression (or ‘TRD’) is failing, and Compass Pathways is determined to change this. In the US alone, TRD costs employers and healthcare payers an estimated $29-48 billion per year.3
We need a clinical and cultural shift in mental health care. Novel therapies, backed by rigorous evidence, are a first step. But new, effective care pathways that make these therapies accessible to all who can benefit can only emerge from a collaboration of mental health companies, health systems, and payers.
We are striving to deliver positive impact by developing innovative, evidence-based therapies to help patients and their families, and to ease the burden on our healthcare systems. We are working with health innovators to build a mental health ecosystem and develop care models that are relevant and accessible to patients. How we achieve our mission is just as important to us. We aim to act responsibly in everything we do: through the working environment we create for our team, the way we engage with our stakeholders, and our business practices.
Working to make an impact
We are working to make an impact in three ways: our work to develop transformative therapies, our contribution to building the mental health ecosystem of the future, and the actions that make us a responsible organisation in doing so. We have 11 focus areas that form our impact strategy.
Our impact strategy is fully embedded into our company-wide strategy; team members from across the organisation are responsible for delivering our impact initiatives. Our Executive team, as well as our Board of Directors and its Committees regularly review and discuss our impact strategy, initiatives, and progress.
