This month we hear from Starr Connor, Payroll and People Coordinator at COMPASS …
The part of my job I most enjoy is … interacting and building relationships with employees, working in the People team connects you with everyone!
When I was a child, I always wanted to … be a DJ. Music was a big part of my childhood – I loved listening to DJ mixes with my mum and trying to guess the next song. We still do it now!
An unusual fact about me is … when I was 16, I held a brown belt in kickboxing and won two professional semi-contact kickboxing tournaments. And in my late teens I started breakdancing, which is still my biggest passion today!
What I am most grateful for is … my mum and nan, I have achieved so much thanks to their love and support. I am forever grateful!
My proudest achievement is … creating a street dance group for children. We put on lots of shows and it’s been amazing to see them grow into strong performers over the years. I also travelled to New Jersey for four months to teach dance to adults and children with disabilities – seeing them smile made my day. And more recently, I created a Mums’ dance group called “Mumaz with G@me.” We performed shows in London to a standing ovation!
